Batwoman, DC Comics’ premiere queer caped crusader, is taking more than Gotham City by storm. The character who was originally introduced in 1956 as a love interest for Batman (in an attempt to dispel the gay rumors surrounding his relationship with Robin) has been thriving in her modern incarnation.
Reintroduced in 2006, this new version of Batwoman, named Kate Kane, is a kick-ass lesbian who is a former member of the U.S. military and was even romantically linked to Gotham City police detective Rene Montoya.
